Not all of our Solar Generators are the same. The Input Voltage on our smaller Solar Generator is usually 30A/120V. The Diagram above is for installing a 60A/120V-240V Solar Generator to your breaker box. There is another webpage available that displays the Wiring Diagram for installing a 30A/120V Solar Generator to your breaker box. Always remember, the Portable Generator also includes extra outlets on the side of the portable generator for connecting equipment or appliances directly to the Solar Generator. The Solar Generator is very easy to operate. First, Plug the Solar Generator into any standard wall outlet. Next, plug equipment and appliances directly into the Solar Generator outlets. When a power failure occurs, the Solar Generator will automaticall provide emergency power to your appliances and equipment. When the power is restored, the Solar Generator will automatically resume charging. Every Geneforce Portable Generator includes an input plug. Most smaller Solar Generators include a 20A/120V Input Plug, however, a 30A/120V input capability is featured in most of the Solar Generator selections. In other words, you can install a 30A/120V Input plug into a Portable Generator AC Input Plug and get an extra 10 Amps of incoming Power. Geneforce customized Input Plugs and Output receptacles for The Solar Generator at no extra charge.
The extra amperage allows the Solar Charger to recharge faster. In addition, a similar Solar Generator acts like a "Pass thru". Also, a Portable Generator allows electricity to pass from the "wall" outlet", then through our plug, and then out the Solar Generator Outlets. By placing a 30A/120V Input Plug versus a 20A/120V Input plug, 10 additional Amps are "allowed" to "Pass thru" your Solar Generator. As a result, the Portable Generator can power additional equipment by providing increased continuous output. Changing the Input plug of a Solar Generator makes a difference. Especially, when you would like to recharge a Solar Generator quickly. Some Solar Generator features a "Power Share" option which allows each Solar Generator User to "configure" the amount of AC Input Voltage limits "essential" for a Solar Generator charging from a standard wall outlet. Each Solar Generator features a Power Share that features 4 distinct voltage settings. Each Geneforce Solar Generator can be set to 5 Amps. At 5 Amps, the Solar Generator will only "Draw" or consume 5 Amps from your AC Utility Power. If the Solar Generator Power Share setting is changed to 15 Amps, then the Solar Charger will "consume" 15 Amps from the AC Utility to recharge itself. Sometimes, the Solar Generator may be set to 20 Amps. At 20 Amps, some breakers "trip" when a Solar Generator attempts to recharge itself. For example, if you have a 15 Amp Breaker, but the breakers Solar Generator is set at 20 Amps, then each Solar Generator consumption will exceed the electrical "breakers" capacity.
For that reason, when installing a Solar Generator that has a 30A/120V AC Input plug, the breaker and the outlet receptacle should be changed to a 30A/120V breaker and receptacle to withstand the required Solar Generator voltage capacity. A dedicated circuit for the Solar Generator is recommended. However, if there is plenty of equipment sharing the same "Breaker", then Solar Generator Power Share can be decreased to as low as 5 Amps to allow other appliances or equipment to share the breaker voltage with the Solar Generator.
Besides installing an AC Input Plug into your wall outlet or Utility box, each Solar Generator Output can be connected or "installed" directly to your Sub Panel and, thus, you have a Solar Generator that powers the outlets in your home or business without the nuisance of electrical cords between your appliances and your Solar Generator. By the way, you do not need to remove any of the Solar Generator outlets to connect a Geneforce Solar Generator to your sub panel. We recommend making a male-to-female cord between the Output of the Solar Generator outlets and then adding a Flanged inlet on the subpanel. To install the Geneforce Solar Generator to your sub panel, you will require a few parts. Most Solar Generator wiring voltage will require a 10-3 SOOW Royal cord between a 30A/120 Volt 3-Prong Twist Lock Plug and a 30A/120V 3-prong Output Receptacle that then connects to a 30A/120V Male Flanged Inlet at the Subpanel. So, you connect the 30A/120V Twist Lock Input plug into of the Solar Generator outlets. Next, connect the "other end" to the Flanged outlet at the subpanel. For safe Solar Generator operation, do not use a Male-to-Male Plug. If the Solar Generator is ON, then any Solar Generator could give someone a shock if they touched the prongs attached to Solar Generator Output Male to Male cable.
The Solar Generator features two AC Inputs. This allows a Solar Generator to be charged by a standard "wall outlet" or an auxiliary source such as a gasoline emergency generator. As an overview, the Solar Generator may be recharged by several methods. The Portable Generator can be charged with any standard wall outlet. Also, the Solar Generator features two AC Inputs that allow an auxiliary emergency generator automatically turn on, and recharges the Solar Generator when the Power Reserves of the Solar Generator have reached empty. In other words, the second AC Input allows you to install a gasoline emergency generator as a redundancy. In addition, a separate monitor can be installed that automatically starts the gasoline emergency generator when the solar generator runs out of Battery Power. A simpler manner, would be to plug the Solar Generator Input plug directly into a gasoline emergency generator. Of course, that is an option that is used when solar panels are not available to recharge the Solar Generator during a prolonged power outage.
If AC Utility power is not available, and a gasoline emergency generator are not available, then the Solar Generator can be recharged with solar panels or a wind turbine. The solar panels can recharge any Solar Generator by connecting each other with a positive and negative cable. The Solar Generator remains inside your home or business. Meanwhile, the solar panels go "outside". A cable from the solar panels to the Solar Generator will be needed to connect to each other. As soon as the solar panel (positive and negative) connectors inserts into a part of the Solar Generator, next, the solar generator will automatically begin recharging itself, even while you are using the Portable Generator. The cable between the solar panel and Solar Generator is not difficult to install. The distance between the solar panels and Solar Generator must be calculated. Depending on the distance, the properly sized gauge of wire is determined to handle the voltage "running" through the cable that connects between the solar panels and Solar Generator. Geneforce is available to assist in determining the proper gauge of wire for the distance between the solar panel and the Solar Generator. Below is an American Wire Gauge Table that displays the Cable Gauge (Thickness) recommended between any Solar Generator and the Solar Panels. In addition, the American Wire Gauge Table displays the Amperage Capacity of the cable being used to connect between the Solar Generator and the Solar Panels.
